Students at Tremont Grade School participated in the "Nets for Vets" fundraiser on Friday, aiming to raise $6,000 for the Greater Peoria Honor Flight. This initiative supports sending veterans to the nation’s capital in 2025 and educates students about the significance of veterans' contributions to freedom. Volunteer Rick Otey emphasized the importance of such events, highlighting that some students contributed spare change from their book bags. Last year, the school raised approximately $5,200. The event allows children to learn about and appreciate the sacrifices made by veterans, with one student, Henry Waldrop, expressing joy in supporting those who served the country.
