Revolutionizing Food Rescue: A Retiree's Mission to Combat Hunger
Chuck Smiley, a retired Air Force and Boeing employee, founded Cuisine Rescue in 2022 to combat food waste in Charleston County, South Carolina. The organization partners with food donors to distribute leftover meals to local non-profits, a concept Smiley learned from his daughter, who runs a similar initiative in New York City. Instead of joining her program, he established his own to better serve his community. Smiley's dedication is focused on bridging food donors and non-profits by encouraging businesses to donate surplus food that would otherwise be discarded.
